Why did you name it Win Win Enterprises?

In 2002 my wife, Joyce, and I, decided to incorporate our real estate investment company to assist Michigan home sellers and buyers.  First, of course, it needed a name.  We knew it should reflect who we are as individuals, but more importantly, what our clients could expect when working with us.  How to sum up goal of our business ideals in a simple company name?   It proved to be a bigger challenge than we anticipated, as the brainstorming stretched into several days.  But finally that “Ah ha!” moment arrived!  There I was sitting at our dining room table doing some work, while Joyce was busy at the computer.  I was brainstorming out loud when Joyce turned around and said, “Working with you is a win-win situation.  Both parties can walk away feeling good about the transaction.  Exactly!  And with that, Win Win Enterprises, LLC was born.  Since the creation of our website we’re more commonly know as WinWinFamilyHomes.com, but that’s another story….

What does Win Win Stand for?

First and foremost, we take our motto of being a “morally directed Real Estate company” very seriously.  While we are certainly in business with Michigan home sellers and buyers to make a profit, we don’t believe it should be done by taking advantage others.  We simply will not enter into any type of agreement were it is a lose-win or a win-lose situation for either party.  If both parties do not feel comfortable, and we can’t find a way to make it into a win-win situation, then there is no transaction. Even if you want to sell your house fast,   we don’t believe in high pressure sales tactics, and will never try to pressure homeowners into a decision to do business with our company.  We understand the need to “sleep on it”!  We believe that the core of our success in helping clients sell or buy a house in Michigan is our above-board, honest approach in every situation.  In doing so, we have EARNED our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and have never had a single complaint logged against us from Michigan home sellers or buyers.  We’re working diligently to protect that rating!  Growing up, my mom would always tell us, “Even if no one else knows, God knows.”  I believe that to this day.

The family behind Win Win Enterprises:

Win Win Enterprises, LLC is run in large part by me, Don Swinney, and my wife, Joyce.  We have four children who range in age from sixteen to nine years old, and I must say, they are the best kids a father and mother could ever hope for!  The business has called on each one of them at one time or other, and they have always been cheerful in helping out.  (I would be remiss in not mentioning the loss of our second oldest daughter, Rebekah, who died suddenly at the age of two.) Most of my professional adult life (seventeen years) was spent in the automotive industry.  Eleven of those were spent as the plant manager for a tier-I automotive supplier.  It was during this time that my interest in real estate started to pique.

I had always wanted to learn more about the profession, but entering the automotive industry as a young man seemed to be a more practical choice for a newlywed raising a family.  Eventually, however, as I invested my time in the study and training of the world of real estate, I decided that this was where my interest truly was, and made it my full-time profession.

My wife, Joyce, was an executive secretary before the birth of our children, and is currently a stay-at-home-mom, who has homeschooled our children for the past twelve years.  I am fortunate to have her skills to contribute to the running of the business.

All of our children have grownup helping in one way or the other with the business.  We want them to feel that it belongs to the family and that we should all support it together. We also believe it teaches character and the principles of hard work. So while we have people who do most of the hands-on maintenance of our properties, each one of the kids has claimed their own little “niche” job….

Nicole, our oldest, has recently been issued a drivers permit (gray hair popping up faster!) has come to claim small paint jobs as her specialty.

Jennifer, our third born, (who won’t actually admit it!) seems to like cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.  She is especially good at it!

Emily, daughter number four, is a hard worker will tackle just about anything you give her. Unlike Jennifer, she admits to liking the cleaning of bathrooms!

And finally, Adam, our “man-cub” (as we call him).  He handles trash, general clean up and yard work, and is always willing to assist me in whatever it is I am doing.
